Celebrate National Nonprofit Day August 17, 2023

Thursday, August 17, 2023 is National Nonprofit Day, a day of recognition for the positive impacts nonprofit organizations have on communities and the world.

The Open Hearts Foundation believes we can all do something to help others. Our Open Hearts Movement is fueled by the support we receive from our donors, volunteers and charity partners.  This week we are so thrilled to join the nation and celebrate all of the nonprofit (or for-purpose) organizations and the incredible communities they serve, including their staff and volunteers that work hard to fulfill their missions.

We invite you to join us in celebration! Here are some resources to help you celebrate and volunteer on this special day:

Celebrate National Nonprofit Day - Take two minutes to celebrate your favorite charity and acknowledge their work on National Nonprofit Day on your favorite social media platform. Have more than one charity you support? Great!  Tag them, thank them, or share why their mission is so important to you! Invite your friends to join you! Use hashtags  #NND #NND23 #nonprofit, #nationalnonprofitday, #nationalnonprofitday2023

Volunteer! Make a pledge to volunteer at a local nonprofit - We love volunteers! The Foundation believes when you turn adversity into opportunity, your heart will remain open and you will find purpose. Volunteering is one way to put that philosophy into action. Here are a few ideas:

Donate or hold an online fundraising campaign for your favorite nonprofit - Donations are the driving force that help a nonprofit charity fulfill its mission. Whether you give $5 or $5,000,000, every donation helps your favorite charity provide lifesaving programs or resources to those in need. The Foundation accepts donations every day and is thrilled to have a growing list of monthly donors that support our mission throughout the year! Thank you to Jackie, Linda, Tameka, Victoria, Misty, Mary Kate, David, Elliott, Michelle, Loren, Janice, and Jamie!

Thank a nonprofit employee or volunteer for their service - Everyone loves a thank you note. By expressing gratitude towards someone whose purpose is to help others, you’re acknowledging that their work matters in the communities they serve and beyond.  Pay it forward, pass it on. It takes a minute and your kind gesture will mean the world to each nonprofit employee or volunteer!
